Cultural Competency and Diversity Training

Worthy Institute offers cultural competency and diversity training to professionals and organizations that provide services and programs to diverse populations.  The training provides effective service strategies that address the needs of racially and ethnically diverse groups, low income groups and culturally diverse communities.  Training includes information about diverse populations related to prevention and education, community health and programs and services.  Worthy Institute has developed a successful curriculum of modules that address various aspects of cultural competency within public and private organizations. 

The Cultural Competency training is based upon multiple training modules that include components of building and applying cultural competence working with families and communities.  Cultural competence is based upon defining behaviors, attitudes, and guidelines that are formed within a system, agency, or community that enable effective interaction and positive development of relationships across cultures through service delivery. Strategic planning for building and implementing cultural competency within a system will be addressed.  Behaviors and attitudes are learned from our social environment, specifically our families.  This training will address the role of the family and community as they relate to racism, cultural values, and cultural tolerance as an example for children.  The training will explore opportunities to incorporate information of various cultures and values that are different from one’s own in order to improve and develop healthy cross- cultural relationships and improve services to various groups.
